Feb Trip Home

Here are some pictures from when we went home a few weekends ago:

 Run, Nakey, Run!!!!

Alexa taking a bath in the famous bathtub.

Mom and I were trying to get a good picture of her but when we counted "one...two...three!!!"  she lifted up her dress instead and showed us her diaper.  I'm not sure and a little concerned as to what this means for her future.  We are going to have to have a discussion on the inappropriateness of lifting up your dress any time someone counts to three.

Our little family (minus the dogs)

Alexa and Ricky playing an intense game of tic tac toe.

pretty girl

We are trying to convince Diet Pepsi to sponsor her...haven't gotten a response yet.

Alexa loves to play peek-a-boo! In fact, she has recently run into furniture while her hands were over her face which led to a small discussion on the importance of keeping your eyes open while you are running...and that we should only play peek-a-boo standing still.  By the way, she also does the hand signs for Itsy Bitsy Spider and Skidamarink.  She must sing them at school.  I got the Spider one but when she asks for you to sing Skidamarink she gets so excited that instead of holding her elbow, she holds her arm pit instead.  So sometimes by the time I notice that she's even asking me to do something she's got her hand shoved into her pit with the other one frantically flapping in the air.  It took me awhile to figure out what that meant.

Katie taught her how to play the piano.

She thought she was hot stuff.

Oh, and she likes to clean (which is AWESOME!!!).  She saw me mop up some spilled water from the dog bowl with my feet and wanted to join in the cleaning fun.  I plan to milk this for all it's worth.

Just so you know, there are a couple of really cute pictures of Alexa and my mom but she (mom, that is) made me promise that I wouldn't put them on my blog.  Which is dumb, because like I said, they are really cute.  But this is me not putting them up here.

Ballet Blues

I need help getting out of a rut.  It's about dance, I'm not motivated at all.  Not motivated.  Not inspired.  Not being creative.  Nothing.  Everyone knows that I teach dance classes as my second job and everyone knows how much I love doing it. I'm constantly thinking about new things to do and choreographing in my head.  Any time I hear a good song I try to do a combo in class or something like that.  Actually, at this time most years I'm already thinking about and getting ideas of what I want to do for the following season.  This year, I have nothing.  It's been like this since August when we started but for some reason, lately, it's gotten worse.  I'm not even really excited about the dances that are completed (and I usually love my dances).  Plus, it was super hard for me to choreograph anything this year, which has never been the case.  I don't know what it is.  I'm not even excited to go to the studio at all.  And I'm trying not to have a bad attitude in class but I feel like sometimes I just can't help it...especially when the girls act like they don't want to be there either.  I've tried watching old videos and even watching videos online of competitions and stuff but it just makes me think that their choreography is better then anything I could do which just makes me that much more frustrated.  Oh well, I suppose I'm done complaining.  I guess I'll just have to get over it and suck it up.

Animal Love

We all know about the crazy bird obsession.  And the undying love for Wolfie.  But apparently, Hot Stuff is in love with animals in general.  Evidence:

Doesn't it look like she's trying to eat her?
Instead of taking  'a bite out of crime'  Alexa takes 'a bite out of cats'.
And yes, I did just reference an early 90s TV commercial.
You love it.

I would like to point out two things in this picture.  #1 - how Alexa is totally loving on the ugliest cat in existence.  #2 - how I am making a face at my mom which clearly says 'can you believe Alexa is totally loving on the ugliest cat in existence and that I am actually holding it...nasty!'

In all honesty, this is actually a very nice cat.  I am not a cat person at all but for some reason, our neighbors always have very nice (not so nasty) cats.  Despite being the hairless kind.  Of course they have another cat who is full of nice soft hair but does Alexa want to pet that one?  No, of course not.  She wants to pet the bald cat.  She followed Ally (the cat) onto the patio at their house and pointed to her nose and gave her a kiss on the mouth.  The pictures were taken during our attempt to make her do it again.

Lexi was also in love with Patches, my brother's dog.  At first Patches and his other dog, Allie, completely freaked her out.  They are much bigger then what she's used to, but once they calmed down it was another love fest.  Pats, hugs, kisses, I'm surprised she didn't try to ride her.  Alexa even tried to pick Patches up (which obviously didn't work out too well).  Patches just sat there the whole time, what a good girl!  After this, Alexa kept walking around the house pointing at Patches and saying 'Paa paa'.

Two kind of crazy things that happened today...well, yesterday (it's after midnight)

#1 - Alexa and I got swarmed by birds in the Walmart parking lot.  She loved it, I thought I was going to die.  I can't believe I'm actually admitting that I shopped at Walmart.  Don't judge me, it's by far the cleanest Walmart I've ever been in (not that I've been in many) and the nearest Target is something like 30 miles away.  Alexa is still obsessed with birds and can spot them even if they are just specks in the sky.  There always seem to be birds around the Walmart or Winn Dixie (again, no Publix for miles) parking lots so we usually stop to look at the nasty creatures, I mean, birds.  So we were walking out of Walmart, looking at the birds, doing our usual routine when a flock of seagulls (hehehe...I am not even kidding) started flying right over and around us.  They didn't come any closer then about 20 feet from us so the logical part of my brain was staying relatively calm but the other, non logical part of me was freaking out.  Those nasty birds with their beaks and their feathers flying all around us, threatening to poop on us.  Ughhhh.  Gross.  Meanwhile, as I was having a minor attack, Alexa was in heaven.  She sat there in the buggy pointing with a huge smile on her face saying things like 'oh' and 'hi' and 'ba' (which is Alexa for bird).  I was ducking and running to our car and she was having the time of her life.  Then, just as I'm finally starting to escape the bird attack, my brother in law and nephews drive up and see us both acting like fools.  Me cowering, Alexa screaming in laughter.  Awesome, just awesome.

#2 - Alexa asked to use the potty today.  We have a potty in her bathroom that pretty much just sits there looking pretty.  I realize that she won't be able to use the potty for awhile but why not have one there so that she can get used to seeing it, right?  It's pretty obvious that she's seen me on the toilet plenty of times (as evidenced by previous posts) and I feel like that's a good thing (hopefully, she will never think that the potty is scary).  We were putting towels away in my bathroom today when she walked up to the toilet and pointed at it.  I asked her if she had to use the potty just to see what she would do and she shook her head yes.  OK, interesting.  Then I asked her to bring me to her potty (thinking that she would bring me into her bedroom or the office or something like that).  She grabbed my finger and walked in front of me all the way to her bathroom door and then banged on it.  I opened the door and she pointed to her potty.  So we took off her pants and diaper and she sat on it.  Nothing happened but we sang some made up potty songs and she sat there for a little bit, until she got tired of sitting, at which time we put back on the pants with a fresh diaper.  I know it's not super exciting and I know that everyone thinks their own kid is fantastic but I was impressed that the 16 month old wanted to sit on the potty.

A Love Affair and a Snow Suit

Isn't it funny how nothing interesting happens (to write about) for weeks at a time and then all of a sudden within a few days a whole bunch of stuff happens? No? It's just me...ok, awkward moment. Anyway, I was driving to work tonight thinking about all the random little stuff I had to blog about, so I'm be prepared for a few back to back posts. Oh! I have an idea! Instead of constantly checking my blog to check if I posted anything (as I know everyone does, hehe) you could just follow me by email and get a notice to your inbox whenever I post something. Just put in your email address in that little rectangle thing over to the left that says 'follow by email', it will send you an email which you have to confirm and then every time I post something you will receive a lovely little message from the Weaver Family. I know, you're excited. I actually tried it out myself and it's super easy and you don't get any other messages other then the ones that let you know when there is a new post.

OK, so on to my stories.  The first one is a love story.  A love between a little girl and her dog.  It's actually between a little girl and three dogs but the other two are fast enough to squirm out of the grip of the two and a half foot hug strangler.  Wolfie, unfortunately, is not.  Therefore, Alexa has become increasingly obcessed with him.  She follows him around, says hi to him, tries to pet him, hug him, lay on him, wiggle with him (she sees Wolfie and Minnie wiggle together and tries to join in).  It's to the point that, due to the frail state of Wolfie's back, we have to either lock him in another room or be within 3 feet of Alexa to pull her off of him in case she decides to attack.  I mean, hug.  Wolfie still loves her but he said that he would like it to be more of a long distance relationship.  And I don't blame him.

It all starts with an innocent pat.
And then she wants to snuggle.

My other little story is that we went to Panama City Beach this past weekend.  Nick had to go to a meeting there for school so Alexa and I went along to see the beach.  Little did we know, it was going to be like being in the freaking arctic.  OK, so it wasn't that cold (a high of 51, I think) but the wind was ridiculous.  Like, knock a baby over ridiculous.  We tried to go to the beach, but after only a few minutes we decided to go shopping instead.  This was a much better use of our time because we found a huge plaza/mall thing that had a Carter's store and we got some Christmas PJs for next year on super clearance.  My mom would have been proud.  It's too bad it was so cold and windy because the beach was beautiful. Not like the nasty beaches in south Florida.  Like, there was actual sand.  Imagine that.  We are going to have to go back when I don't feel like I have to wrap my child in a snow suit.
