Our Skills part 2
As previously discussed, Katie, Nick and I have some major skills. I know, your jealous. But be prepared because your level of jealousy is going to skyrocket!!!!! That's right, we made cakes! This pretty much proves that we need our own reality tv show. Our family has everything you need for one: we're relatively funny, we all have our own individual plot lines that are kind of weird, dad had a head trauma, we have random family members that are related in no way what so ever, and we make some kick ass cakes. The only thing we're missing are some little people, although I think Katie might qualify. Anyway, back to the cakes. Katie and I spent practically one whole day baking all these cakes in whatever size and shape everyone required. After spending the afternoon in the fridge, we stacked our cakes and (if it was not requiring fondant) put on a thin layer of icing. Then back into the fridge they went for the night. The next day, Katie and I made the fondant (recipe to follow), which was suprisingly easy to make. It's marshmallow fondant, not the real stuff, supposedly it's easier to make and work with. After the fondant was made we just rolled it out and decorated. Super easy and they look damn good if I do say so myself! We had a height limit of 12 inches, a christmas theme and we had to use some kind of candy. Other than that, it was whatever you wanted. Nick's school Christmas party was at our house the next night so they all voted. Nick and Katie got 12 votes each and I got 9 so they tied for 1st place and I lost. No big deal, I liked mine. I'm writing this at work so I can't put pictures up now, but I will soon.
